How it works
- 1
You request a quote or give us a call and tell us what is blocked and whether anything is overflowing.
- 2
We arrange a time that suits you. Blockages are treated as urgent, so in most cases we can offer next day and often same day service.
- 3
We clear the blockage, find out why it happened, and leave the area clean rather than just pushing the problem further down the pipe.
Why choose Matt
- Same-day clearance in most cases
- Cause diagnosed, not just cleared
- Clean working practice
- Honest pricing, quoted upfront
Drains & Blockages Across Birmingham FAQs
- Can you clear a blocked drain the same day?
- In most cases yes. Blockages are treated as urgent because of the risk of overflow and water damage, so we fit them in as quickly as we can across Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
- Why does my sink or toilet keep blocking?
- Repeat blockages usually mean something structural rather than a one-off: a bellied or damaged pipe, a poorly fitted waste with the wrong fall, root ingress, or a build-up of fat and scale narrowing the bore. We look for the cause rather than just clearing it and leaving.
- Should I use chemical drain cleaner first?
- We would not recommend it as a routine fix. Caustic cleaners can damage older pipework and seals, they rarely shift a solid blockage, and they make the job messier and more hazardous for whoever clears it. Mechanical clearance is safer and more reliable.
- Do you carry out CCTV drain surveys?
- Yes, we arrange CCTV inspection where a blockage keeps coming back or where we suspect a collapse or root ingress. It is subcontracted to a specialist when needed, and we will always tell you first if we think it is necessary.
- Who is responsible for the drain outside my house?
- Broadly, the pipework inside your property boundary that only serves your home is your responsibility, while shared drains and the public sewer are usually the water company's. We will tell you which side of the line your blockage falls on before doing chargeable work.
- There is a drain smell but nothing is blocked. Can you help?
- Yes. Drain smells are often a dried out or missing trap, a failed seal on a waste connection, or a soil vent problem. We trace the source and fix it properly rather than masking it.
