Boiler Service Birmingham FAQs
- How long does a boiler service take?
- Around 30 to 45 minutes for a standard domestic boiler with clear access. If we find something that needs attention we will tell you what it is and what it will cost before doing anything else.
- What is included in a boiler service?
- We check the gas rate and combustion, inspect the burner, heat exchanger, electrodes and seals, test the safety devices and controls, check the flue and ventilation, check system pressure, and clean the components that need it. You get a written record of the checks at the end.
- Does an annual service keep my boiler warranty valid?
- Yes, and in most cases it is required. Nearly every manufacturer warranty depends on an annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer, with the service history recorded. Miss one and a future claim can be refused.
- How often should a boiler be serviced?
- Once every 12 months. Autumn is the ideal time, before the heating goes on properly, because that is when most breakdowns happen. Landlords need an annual gas safety check as well as the service.
- Is a boiler service the same as a gas safety certificate?
- No. A gas safety check (CP12) is a legal safety inspection of the gas appliances in a let property. A service is a more detailed clean and check of the boiler itself. Landlords usually want both, and we can do them in one visit. See our gas safety page for the landlord side.
- What happens if you find a fault during the service?
- We explain what we have found in plain English, tell you whether it needs sorting now or can wait, and quote you before doing any repair. If a boiler is unsafe we are obliged to make it safe, and we will talk you through exactly why.
"Annual service booked in and done in under an hour. Sent me the certificate straight away and flagged a worn seal before it turned into a real problem."
