Boilers & Central Heating Across Birmingham FAQs
- How long does a new boiler installation take?
- A straight swap of a combi boiler in the same position is usually a one-day job. Moving the boiler to a different room, or converting from a conventional system to a combi, typically takes two days. We confirm the timescale with your quote so you know exactly what to expect.
- Is it worth repairing my boiler or should I replace it?
- As a rule of thumb, if the boiler is under roughly eight years old and the part is readily available, a repair is usually the sensible option. Older boilers with repeated faults or obsolete parts often cost more to keep going than to replace. We give an honest recommendation either way, and we will always tell you when a repair is the cheaper answer.
- How often should a boiler be serviced?
- Once a year. An annual service keeps the boiler running efficiently and safely, and most manufacturers require it to keep the warranty valid. Landlords also need an annual gas safety check on top of the service.
- Which boiler brands do you install and repair?
- All the major brands, including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi and Glow-worm. Matt is British Gas trained and Gas Safe registered, so we work across combi, system and conventional boilers.
- What warranty do I get with a new boiler?
- Manufacturer warranties on new boilers run up to 12 years depending on the brand and model you choose. We register the warranty for you after installation, and our own workmanship is guaranteed.
- My radiators are cold at the bottom. Do I need a power-flush?
- Cold spots at the bottom of radiators usually mean sludge build-up in the system. Sometimes balancing and bleeding is enough. If the build-up is significant, a power-flush clears it and restores heat output. We check the system first rather than selling you a flush you may not need.
